Scilife supports a wide range of file types, so you can upload, review, and manage your documents with ease. This article covers the file types that have been validated for use in Scilife, how to work with other formats, and a few helpful tips for viewing and editing your files.
Validated file types
The following file types have been validated for upload in Scilife and are ready to use out of the box:
Documents:
doc,docx,pdf,rtf,txt,pubSpreadsheets:
csv,xlsxPresentations:
ppt,pptxImages:
png,jpg,jpeg,gif,svg,bmpDesign files:
ai,inddVideo:
movArchives:
zip
You can upload files up to a maximum size of 500 MB.
Working with other file formats
If you need to work with a file type that isn't on the list above, additional formats can be enabled for your environment in Scilife Settings → General Settings.
Please note that file types beyond the list above have not been validated by Scilife. We recommend confirming that any additional format meets your organization's quality and compliance needs before relying on it. Additionally, some formats might be rejected upon upload.
This article explains how to add an allowed file type to your environment.
Tip: Upload almost anything as a ZIP
If you'd like to keep a file type in Scilife that isn't currently enabled, a simple workaround is to compress the file (or a set of files) into a .zip archive and upload the ZIP. Since zip is a validated file type, this lets you store and manage virtually any format while keeping everything neatly together in one file.
Viewing and editing your files
Please note that Only MS Office compatible file types such as docx, xlsx, and pptx are visible from the document viewer in Scilife, and only these file types can be edited using the live edit function.
The same applies to Scilife's variable replacement feature: predefined variables (for example, document ID, version, and signatures) are automatically replaced with their actual values only in docx, xlsx, and pptx files. For the best experience with in-app viewing, live editing, and variable replacement, we recommend using these MS Office formats whenever possible.
