What are Category Types?

  • Updated

A Category Type is basically a Form.
Users will have to fill out the Form, each time they print a document. An Administrator or Manager can create a Category Type. It is possible to set up multiple Category Types within the platform. In the following article, you can read more on how to create one: How do I create a Category Type?

Your Category Type will exist out of Fields (click here for more information). In these Fields, the users are able to populate them with information related to the printout. There are three different Field Types:

  • Numeric: Users can only store numbers.
  • Alphanumeric: Users can store numbers and/or letters.
  • String: Users can store numbers, letters and/or special characters.

Here you have an example of a certain Category Type 'Group Record' that has been established within the Print & Reconciliation module:

As you can see, Category Type 'Group Record' exists out of two fields: Group Number and Group Name.
The users will have to populate these two fields with data whenever they select the Category Type 'Group Record' in the virtual printer. It will look like this:

Relevant for: Administrators / Managers.
Please note: A user will only be able to select the Category Type(s) that belong to the same Groups as where the user belongs to.
