How do I create a Category?

Categories are available for all design control items: User Needs, Design Inputs, Design Outputs, Design Verifications, and Design Validations.  Verification and Validation test runs are excluded.

  • Any design control item (User Need, Design Input, Design Output, Design Verification, Design Validation) can be linked to multiple categories.

  • Categories can be linked to multiple items.

  • Categories act as a means to provide more structure and organisation for your Design Controls. 

Categories are created and managed at Project level.

This functionality is optional and not a requirement when creating design control items.

To create a Category follow these steps:

  1. Select a Project 
  2. Go to the Categories tab
  3. Click on the New+ icon
  4. In the pop-up give the Category a title (mandatory field) - the pop-up can moved to the side or displayed centrally by using the >I function
  5. Add a Description, if required
  6. Save your Category
  7. Click Save & New to keep creating more Categories

 

Deleting a category unlinks it from all active items but retains the link for deleted items (with a visual indicator):

  Relevant for: Administrators / Managers / Regular Users
