Entity Roles vs Permission Roles in Scilife

  • Updated

In Scilife the entity role takes precedence over the system role.

Permissions in a Document depend on the specific roles assigned to a user within that Document. Here's an example:

  • A user may have a system-level role as an Administrator, but in a particular Document, they are assigned the role of Reviewer QA.
  • To perform actions like live editing or uploading in a Document, a user must have a role that grants these permissions—such as Author or Reviewer.

In this scenario, the Reviewer QA role in the Document determines the user's permissions. Even if the user has broader system-level permissions (e.g., Administrator), the role assigned in the specific Document takes precedence for actions within that Document.
