How do I generate print logs?

  • Updated

The Print & Reconciliation application maintains a comprehensive log file that captures and records every critical event throughout the application’s lifecycle from the moment it starts to the completion of the document printing process.

This log plays a vital role in monitoring, troubleshooting, and ensuring traceability of all actions performed within the application.

What the Log Captures

  1. Application Lifecycle Events
Every major event from the launch of the P&R application to the completion of print jobs is recorded. This includes UI initialization, user actions, and system processes.
  2. Source Document Print Details
The log stores detailed information related to the source document being printed, including:
    • Category-based printing requirements
    • Selected print range and number of copies
    • Barcode positioning and adjustments
    • Total number of pages to be printed
  3. Print Execution Events
When a document is sent to the printer, that event is also logged. It ensures a traceable record of:
    • The print command trigger
    • Any interruption or failure that occurs during the printing process
    • Exceptions if the application crashes or stops unexpectedly during print
  4. Reprint Tracking
If a document is reprinted, the reprint process and its relevant details are captured in the log file, ensuring full traceability for auditing or troubleshooting.
  5. Final Encrypted  Document Tracking
Once all pages are successfully printed, a final encrypted pdf of the document is created. The log maintains:
    • Confirmation that the document was relayed to the printer
    • The name and file path of the generated encrypted file

Where is the Log File Saved?

By default, the log file is saved here: C:\Program Files\PnRApp\Logs\ PnR_LOGGING_INST.txt
