How to log in using an Authenticator App

  • Updated

If your organization has decided to activate MFA via an authenticator app or you are logging in to we.scilife.io you will need to download an authenticator app to your mobile device or use a desktop authenticator app for future access to Scilife.

Once MFA via an authenticator app has been activated the next time you try to log in to Scilife, after inputting the correct username and password, you will be presented with a QR code.

Thus we recommend having an authenticator option already in place if your company has notified its users that this will be the preferred way to log in to the system.

To log in to Scilife for the first time using an authenticator app you will need to:

  • Scan the QR code from the app on your mobile device, or
  • Enter the Setup Key to your desktop application.
  • You will then be prompted to input an OTP code

From this point on, each time you log in to Scilife the authenticator app will generate a numeric code after you have input your username and password, that you will need to input.

Please note recovery codes are available for all users under My Account should the multi-factor authentication device not be available. It is best practice to have them stored in a secure place outside of Scilife in case you face issues with the MFA selected.
